CURRENT PROJECT

Backcountry Brought Home

The essence of this multi-generational dwelling lies in its thoughtful design, allowing parents to age-in-place with ease and comfort by situating their living quarters on a single level. This forward-thinking approach ensures long-term convenience, transforming the main level into their personal sanctuary. This level includes a shared entry, garage, and mudroom, providing seamless access and functionality.

The mid-level, strategically positioned on the lower side of the site, serves the younger family, offering the same stunning views. The design prioritizes privacy, with a layout that balances separation and connection to the surrounding landscape. The vertical separation is carefully crafted to maintain aesthetic unity, harmonized through cohesive color schemes, siding choices, and a blend of flat and varied rooflines.

Bringing two generations under one roof, each with distinct aesthetic preferences, required a unifying design language. Clean, contemporary lines, simple yet thoughtful details, and welcoming colors create a harmonious environment that caters to both generations. The result is a home where one generation can enjoy a well-deserved retirement while the other embraces the vibrant life of raising a family and exploring the great outdoors.

An on-site workshop enhances the home's functionality, offering a perfect space for maintaining bikes and waxing skis, ensuring efficiency and enjoyment for years to come. This design embodies a perfect blend of independence and unity, providing a nurturing environment for all family members.
